About Kids Cooking Slim

Kids Cooking Slim is a special section in CookingSlim.org for kids and their parents who enjoy real food.  In this section we’ll explore things like developing a kid’s natural palate, food labels and good consumer habits, as well as peer pressure and fostering a realistic body image.

Food should be nourishing and fun, not a source of pressure and frustration.  It’s also important to get them started early in devloping good eating habits so that they can relax and enjoy themselves.

Childhood obesity, diabetes, and heart disease are growing problems not because kids are greedy, but because they are hungry, and not being fed what they need.  Far too much of their diet is based on processed foods that are strangely called “convenience food”.  Then there are the “fun” foods like sugar cereals and pudding cups.

If you take these things away, kids feel deprived, and might spend their allowance to get them, or trade their lunch with others.  So part of this section of the site has recipes for foods kids will actually eat and not want to trade.
